How do you charge an electric car step by step?
Wondering how to charge an electric car for the first time? There’s nothing to it, and once you’ve done it a few times, it’ll soon become second nature – like filling up a petrol or diesel car at the pump.
Plug and Charge:
Simply connect your charging cable from your car to a chargepoint and let it charge until the battery reaches the desired level. This method works for home charging and is as simple as plugging in and walking away.
With public charging, the process is very similar. Start your charging session via your contactless card or chargepoint app, plug the charger into your car, and then charging starts. When you want to stop charging on a public charger, simply stop the charging session via your contactless card or charepoint app, unplug the charger, and then you're free to drive away.
Scheduled Charging via App:
Many home chargers or EV models come with companion apps, such as Ohme, that let you schedule charging sessions. This is especially useful for overnight charging when electricity rates may be cheaper. Just set your preferences, and the app takes care of the rest.
Both options offer flexibility and convenience, making EV ownership simple and hassle-free.
