2024 Five-A-Side Football Tournament

On June 23rd, we were delighted to host a charity football tournament for the Dick Lovett team at Swindon Supermarine FC in their brilliant indoor dome facility.

Following on from the success of our first football tournament for the Lovett Foundation, which took place in October and saw BMW Melksham triumph on the day, we decided to move to a bigger facility in Swindon this year to accommodate a larger scale event.

The tournament brought together 16 enthusiastic teams to compete for a good cause and was structured in a classic format with group stages, semi-finals, and a final match to crown the champions. Each dealership showcased their skills and teamwork, contributing to a series of thrilling matches that kept the spectators on the edge of their seats. We were delighted to see so many supporters from around the group to cheer on their teams!

We saw some fantastic displays from teams across the group. After some thrilling encounters and nail-biting fixtures the semi-final came down to a penalty shootout between MINI Hungerford and MINI Melksham. The knockout penalties were eventually won by MINI Melksham who gained a position in the final, and would be contending against newcomers BMW Swindon who had defeated Aston Martin Bristol in their respective semi-final. However, there can only be one winner and after a convincing 3-0 victory in the final, it was BMW Swindon who lifted the trophy at the end of the day. As a new contender to the tournament this year, it was a dream debut for the team who won all 5 of the games they played, and only conceded twice on their way to the final. Congratulations to BMW Swindon as worthy winners of this year’s tournament!

While the football action was the main attraction, we also had a family fun element on the day. Our dealerships kindly donated prizes for a raffle and we also had some tasty treats up for grabs in the form of brownies from Jessie’s Bakes and cupcakes from Ceri’s Cupcakes. In the breakout sessions families and children could make use of the goals or participate in sports day themed activities!

Thanks to the generosity of participants, sponsors, and spectators, over £1,000 was raised during the event. These funds will go towards our goal of supporting young people who are in or leaving foster care across the South West and Wales. The Lovett Foundation recently celebrated its fifth anniversary this year. These funds will go a long way in supporting the foundation's various programs and making a positive impact on the lives of those in need.

Families, friends, and football fans came together to enjoy a day filled with fun activities, delicious food, and, of course, thrilling football matches. The indoor dome at Swindon Supermarine FC proved to be the perfect venue, providing an excellent environment for both players and spectators.
