Apprentice Application Process

Submitting your application for an Apprenticeship is the start of your incredible journey. Turn the key and let’s go!

To ensure candidates have a great experience when applying to be an Apprentice with us, we have outlined dates for the 2025 intake and explained our processes below, so you know what to expect.

Apprenticeships are a fantastic way to kickstart a career in the automotive industry, so we try to make the process as easy as possible. 

Creating an inclusive process

Both at Dick Lovett, and at the brands we represent, we aim for an inclusive environment for our teams to work in and grow. We are committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all, including in the hiring process. We want to ensure the application process is accessible to everyone, so please let us know if you need any additional support throughout your application.

Some of the adjustments we have made to the process include extra time for assessments or individual assessments. We would be open to discussions about how we can fairly accommodate changes to the process so that everyone has the same opportunity to apply for their chosen Apprenticeship.

2. Send us your Project

For the first stage of the process, we will ask you to complete a project. Once you have submitted your application and confirmed your grades, you will be invited to complete a small project.

You can choose the format! The Project could be:

  • A selection of photos with annotations
  • A 500-word essay or a cover letter
  • A video of you presenting
  • A PowerPoint presentation

In the project, we would like you to show us something you are passionate about. It could be:

  • A brand we represent
  • A hobby or passion you have in your personal life
  • A specific car you love
  • A project you have been working on that you want to tell us about

This is your opportunity to go beyond your CV and reveal the person behind the qualifications. Good luck, and let your passion fuel your creativity!

3. Group Interview

Every stage of our application process has been carefully selected to ensure that we see every side of the candidate who is applying. You can find out more about our group interview process here. We aim to make the interviews friendly, fun, and hope you will find it valuable and enjoyable while you are with us.

4. Workshop experience

After the group interview, we will invite selected candidates for our technical apprenticeships to join us to experience the workshop environment first hand. This is the perfect opportunity to ask questions and find out what the role will be like in a real-world setting.
