You’ll want to buy a used BMW 1 Series if you’re looking for a small family car with a dynamic, sporty twist. The BMW 1 Series might be classed as a compact hatchback, but don’t be fooled; there’s plenty of interior space for passengers with pleasing head and leg room.

The interior is smartly designed too, with a neat dashboard layout and an infotainment touchscreen among the features that put it ahead of many rivals in class.

On the road, BMW 1 Series used cars are powerful and agile, providing a superb driving experience. While the newest models are now no longer available with rear wheel drive, the used BMW 1 Series range may include this as an option. BMW 1 Series models that were built as rear-wheel drive by default were E81, E82, E87 and E88 on the first generation of the model, and F20 and F21 on the second generation. Front wheel drive and four wheel drive are also available.

When you buy a used BMW 1 Series from Dick Lovett, all our models come with a BMW Warranty. This means your approved used BMW 1 Series comes with unlimited mileage protection against breakdown and repair costs for parts and labour, for a minimum of 12 months. Newer used cars get the balance of a new car warranty, so a one-year old BMW 1 Series would have two years remaining on its warranty.

If you’re in the market to buy a used BMW 1 Series, there are a few factors you need to consider.

Explore our selection of BMW 1 Series used models and you’ll discover a choice of different trims, engine sizes and types; the 1 Series is available in both manual and automatic transmission, and in petrol or diesel fuel variants.

Engine sizes include from 1.5 litre, 2.0 litre and 3.0 litre. The latter is the most powerful used BMW 1 Series model, capable of 340 BHP and 0-62 MPH acceleration of 4.6 seconds – so, if performance is your priority, this is a great choice.

Trims available on the BMW 1 Series include the SE and Sport, and the M Sport. There’s also an M Sport Shadow Edition – this is also a trim option on used BMW 3 Series – which provides dark design styling around headlights, alloy wheels and other features.

The BMW 1 Series 128ti is one of the newer Approved Used models available. A front wheel drive, it has a two-litre turbo engine and eight-speed automatic transmission.

With used BMW 1 Series models, you’ll also find a choice of drivetrains, from front wheel drive, four wheel drive and rear wheel drive (which has been discontinued on new 1 Series models 2019 onwards).
