Is a used BMW 1 Series a good first premium car?

The BMW 1 Series is often considered one of the best entry points into premium car ownership and a great first BMW. Its compact dimensions make it easy to drive and park, while the high-quality interior, advanced technology, and refined driving experience give you the full BMW experience.

Which used BMW 1 Series engine is best for motorway driving?

All of the BMW 1 Series models are considered efficient. Many drivers covering longer distances often choose diesel models such as the 118d or 120d for their improved fuel economy. Petrol options such as the 118i and 120i are also popular for their refinement and suitability for lower annual mileage. Our BMW specialists can help you compare a used BMW 1 Series for sale and identify the engine that best suits your driving habits.

Used BMW 1 Series Petrol Cars For Sale

If you’re looking for a compact family car with a dynamic, sporty drive that keeps you engaged behind the wheel, a used BMW 1 Series is an excellent choice. While it may be classified as a hatchback, the BMW 1 Series offers impressive interior space, with generous headroom and legroom for passengers.

The cabin is thoughtfully designed, featuring a clean dashboard layout and an intuitive infotainment touchscreen that helps it stand out from many rivals in its class.

On the road, used BMW 1 Series models are agile, responsive and enjoyable to drive. While the latest generation is no longer available with rear-wheel drive, many used BMW 1 Series cars still offer this sought-after configuration. Rear-wheel-drive generations include the E81, E82, E87 and E88 models from the first generation, along with the F20 and F21 models from the second generation. Front-wheel drive and BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive variants are also available.

When you buy a used BMW 1 Series from Dick Lovett, you can do so with complete confidence. All BMW Approved Used models come with a BMW Warranty, providing unlimited mileage protection against breakdown and repair costs for parts and labour for a minimum of 12 months. Newer Approved Used vehicles may also retain the balance of the original manufacturer warranty, meaning a one-year-old BMW 1 Series could still have two years of warranty remaining.

The warranty is backed by BMW rather than third-party insurers and also covers key components such as the battery and exhaust.

If you’re in the market for a used BMW 1 Series, there are several factors to consider to ensure you choose the model that best suits your needs.

Within our selection of Approved Used BMW 1 Series models, you’ll find a choice of trim levels, engine options and transmissions. The BMW 1 Series is available with both manual and automatic gearboxes, as well as petrol and diesel engines.

Engine sizes include 1.5-litre, 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre options. The latter powers some of the most performance-focused BMW 1 Series models, producing up to 340hp and capable of accelerating from 0-62mph in as little as 4.6 seconds, delivering a thrilling driving experience.

Available trim levels include SE, Sport and M Sport. There is also the M Sport Shadow Edition, which adds darkened styling elements to features such as the headlights, alloy wheels and exterior trim, creating a sleek and understated appearance.

The BMW 128ti is one of the newer Approved Used models available. Featuring front-wheel drive, a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission, it offers an engaging blend of performance and everyday practicality.

When choosing an Approved Used BMW 1 Series, it’s important to consider the specification and features that matter most to you. Another key consideration is how you plan to finance your vehicle.

At Dick Lovett BMW, we offer a range of flexible finance solutions, including Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) and Hire Purchase (HP).
