Which used BMW 4 Series model should I choose?

The right used 4 Series depends on how you plan to use it. The Coupé delivers the most focused and sporting feel, while the Convertible adds open-air thrill to every journey. For added practicality, the Gran Coupé combines sleek styling with four doors and increased boot space, making it an excellent everyday choice for families or those who require space.

Used BMW 4 Series Petrol Cars For Sale

The 4 Series was given a refresh with the launch of its second generation in 2020. The key characteristics of a used BMW 4 Series include premium styling, elegant design, sophisticated power and an impressive range of tech innovation.

Also available is a fully electric version of the 4 series, the BMW i4, for those drivers who prioritise electric efficiency without missing out on the BMW experience.

Explore the range of BMW 4 Series used models for sale at Dick Lovett. Our BMW dealerships are located in Bristol, Hungerford, Melksham (near Bath) and Swindon, and you can also find our latest deals online.

Fun to drive, reliable and packed with luxury features typical of a BMW, there’s a lot to like about a BMW 4 Series used. Whether you opt for a sporty Coupé, a classy Convertible or a sleek Gran Coupé, you’ll be buying a model that delivers on-the-road excellence and a pleasurable in-car ride.

Performance varies according to engine type and capacity. If you favour power and impressive acceleration, the M440d has a top speed of up to 155mph, 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds and 340 BHP. Other, smaller engines might not be as rapid but still provide plenty of punch.

Inside the BMW 4 Series used models, the interior layout is impressive. The Coupé and Convertible models may be two-door, but there’s still plenty of seating space for two passengers in the rear, and even more room in the Gran Coupé. Some used 4 Series models are fitted with Nappa leather seating, an unmistakable feeling of top-class comfort.

At Dick Lovett, we have a superb stock of used BMW 4 Series for sale.

Whatever model you choose, all our used BMW 4 Series cars come with a BMW Warranty, which means your BMW Approved Used car has unlimited mileage protection against breakdown and repair costs for parts and labour for a minimum of 12 months.

We want you to have total confidence in your Approved Used BMW 4 Series. The warranty is backed by BMW, not third-party insurers, and even covers the battery and exhaust.

The first major decision when buying a used BMW 4 Series is which body style to choose. Each of them – Coupé, Gran Coupé, or Convertible – offers a different quality, depending on what you’re looking for.

For a classic ‘sports car’ experience with agile handling and dynamic on the road performance, a used BMW 4 Series Coupé puts a big tick in that box. The Convertible is more of a classy cruiser, plus, it provides that lovely top-down touch in warmer weather. The Gran Coupé is a great combination of both, as a larger vehicle that suits a family but still delivers an excellent drive, in a practical package.

In the used BMW 4 Series market, there’s a choice of different engines, including petrol and diesel, and some with mild hybrid technology. Sizes range from 2.0 to 3.0 litres. Both automatic and manual transmissions are available – another consideration to bear in mind when buying a used BMW 4 Series.

The type and size of the engine are factors in performance and fuel efficiency. Larger engines are more powerful, but if you prefer economy and rate MPG over BHP, opt for a smaller engine. Petrol engines include 418i, 420i, 425i, 430i, 435i and 440i; the diesel range has 418d, 420d, 425d, 430d, 435d and 440d.

BMW has streamlined and simplified the trim selection in recent years, so the SE, Modern and Luxury trims have been phased out – though they may still be available on older BMW 4 Series used car. The trims now include the Sport, M Sport and M Sport Pro Edition. Selected models are fitted with XDrive, BMW’s four-wheel drive system, a useful option in challenging road and weather conditions.

When purchasing a BMW 4 Series used model from Dick Lovett, you can choose a finance deal to suit your budget. Our finance agreements are flexible, and let you cover the cost of your vehicle over a few years. A BMW 4 Series used car is available to purchase with Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) and Hire Purchase (HP). There’s more detail on the car finance deals available from Dick Lovett here.
