Used BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Cars For Sale

The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé is a four-door saloon model with a sporty and sleek design. It’s closely related to the popular BMW 1 Series and a big brother to the BMW 2 Series Coupé, and offers a premium interior, impressive levels of comfort and a superb drive experience.

The first generation of the Gran Coupe (F44) was launched by BMW in 2019, following other successful four-door coupés including the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé, 4 Series Gran Coupé and 8 Series Gran Coupé.

BMW describes the 2 Series Gran Coupé as an ‘extrovert’ model and it definitely has an eye catching quality about it. It’s a low-slung sporty coupé car which is also considered a compact saloon, so not only do buyers get a powerful and dynamic performer, they also get a comfortable vehicle that can do the job of commuting and family-friendly motoring.

Because it’s a BMW, it’s fun to drive, with a selection of smooth engines and front wheel drive; the top-of-the-range M235i xDrive version has BMW’s all-wheel drive system. With either version, handling is agile and light, assisted by BMW Performance Control and Dynamic Stability Control, which is included as standard on the 2 Series Gran Coupé.

Owners get a choice of suspension, with M Sport offered as an option to the standard system and adaptive suspension available on M235i models. Top speed and acceleration varies depending on engine type and trim, but even the entry level model can achieve 134mph – with faster options available.

The interior feels soft and luxurious, with leather upholstery. Electric seat adjustment is an option – some used BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé models will have this feature – so drivers can get their seating position just right.

The dashboard layout is simple and stylish, incorporating BMW’s excellent tech and infotainment. On the latest used BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé models, the BMW iDrive infotainment system can be accessed via the 10.25 inch touchscreen display – as well as touch, it’s also controlled by the rotary dial located on the centre console, or by voice command. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as is BMW Live Cockpit.

The boot space is generous, providing 430 litres of capacity, which is 40 litres larger than the 2 Series Coupé. Loading the car is made easier by the automatic tailgate function open, and easier still if you choose a model fitted with the Comfort Access option, which allows you to open it by waving a foot under the rear bumper. Useful if you have your hands full.

Safety tech on BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé used models includes pedestrian warning with autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning and active lane-keeping assist.

Rear parking sensors are fitted as standard, while the optional Park Assist Pack adds extras such as a rear-view camera.

There are various engines available on BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé used models, giving buyers a choice between petrol and diesel options.

The entry level model is the 218i, a 1.5-litre three cylinder petrol engine with a six-speed manual gearbox. It delivers 136hp and 0-62mph of 9.2 seconds; top speed is 134mph.

The 220i is a 2.0-litre four cylinder petrol engine with 192hp, 0-62mph in 7.1 seconds and a top speed of 148mph.

Diesel engines are the 218d – 2.0 litre four cylinder producing 150hp, 0-62mph in 8.5 seconds, and a 138mph top speed – and the faster 220d, also a 2.0 litre four cylinder. This delivers 190hp, 0-62mph in 7.5 seconds, and a maximum top speed of 146mph. It has an eight-speed automatic transmission.

For sheer performance, the best pick is the range-topping M225i xDrive petrol, with its 2.0 litre engine producing 306hp and a rapid 0-62mph time of 4.9 seconds. It’s capable of reaching 155mph. Like the 220d, it has an eight-speed Streptronic transmission.

M Sport suspension and steering is on the M235i xDrive, as it is on models with M Sport trim.

The trim levels available are the Sport Line, Luxury Line, M Sport and M235i. Luxury and Sport trim have 17-inch alloy wheels, M Sport and M235i have 18-inch, and offer a larger 19 inch design as an option.

There’s also a selection of optional packs available for the Gran Coupé, which means selected used BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé may have some of these already included. This might nudge the overall price up, but they add extra value and additional features.

The Comfort Pack includes a heated steering wheel, electric front seats and driver memory seats. The Technology Pack includes Head-Up Display, Parking Assistant, and enhanced Bluetooth with wireless charging, and the M Sport Pro Pack has M Sport Brakes with Blue Calipers and Harman/Kardon Surround Sound Audio
