What is the difference between the BMW 5 Series Touring and estate?

Nothing, they are the same car. BMW uses the Touring name for what other manufacturers call an estate. It is a distinction that goes back decades and is simply part of BMW's own naming convention. So whether you are searching for a used BMW 5 Series estate or a used BMW 5 Series Touring, you are looking for exactly the same vehicle.

Is the used BMW 5 Series Touring reliable?

BMW has a great reputation for reliability, and a second-hand BMW 5 Series Estate is no different. This model benefits from well-proven turbocharged engines and strong reliability records when properly maintained. In addition, every BMW 5 Series Touring used model at Dick Lovett is Approved Used, prepared to BMW's own standards and backed by a manufacturer-supported 12-month unlimited mileage warranty for complete peace of mind.

What should I look for when buying a used BMW 5 Series?

When searching for a used BMW 5 Series for sale, it is important to consider the specifications, service history, and overall condition. Each example features different optional extras, which may suit your needs differently. At Dick Lovett, every Approved Used BMW undergoes comprehensive checks by BMW-trained technicians and comes with warranty cover, roadside assistance and a verified vehicle history for added peace of mind.

Is a used BMW 5 Series a good everyday car?

Yes. One of the reasons the BMW 5 Series remains so popular is its ability to combine executive-level refinement with everyday usability. By purchasing a used example, you gain incredible value for a premium BMW that will be an occasion to drive every day.

What engines are available in a used BMW 5 Series?

The BMW 5 Series has been offered with a wide range of petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid powertrains over the years. Popular choices include the efficient 520d & 520i, the refined 530e plug-in hybrid, and performance-focused M models for those seeking a more dynamic driving experience. New BMW Estate 5 Series In Stock For Sale

The 5 Series has been a hugely popular BMW model for over half a century and stands out as an excellent option. As you’d expect with a BMW, a BMW 5 Series used delivers a superb driving experience, but it’s the overall package that impresses most.

A used 5 Series BMW is a versatile car with high levels of comfort and luxury throughout, not least in the beautifully designed interior. In terms of tech, the in-cabin infotainment system includes Apple CarPlay, Android AutoTM and Bluetooth, as well as sat nav on later models. All in all, a comprehensive selection.

With five seats providing lots of room for driver and passengers to relax, and a boot with generous capacity, a BMW 5 Series used model is made for practicality as well as style. This is a car built for family use, and also a great option for business users.

On the road, it can deliver raw power and quick acceleration, as well as effortless cruising, depending on the engine type and model size. Yet, it’s also an economical car, especially the diesel versions.

All BMW 5 Series used approved models available at Dick Lovett are approved and come complete with a manufacturer-supported warranty. The warranty provides your used BMW with unlimited mileage protection against breakdown, and also any repair costs for parts and labour.

Your BMW is covered for a minimum of 12 months, but newer used BMW 5 Series cars also receive the balance of the new car warranty. A 5 Series that’s one year old will still have two years left on the new car warranty. Find contact details for your nearest Dick Lovett BMW dealership here.

Engine range, body style, choice of trim – there are lots of factors under consideration if you’re thinking of buying a used BMW 5 Series.

The most important of these buying choices is surely body style. The BMW 5 Series used range has two models: the Saloon, which has a sporty exterior, and the Touring, which combines driving dynamics with the increased space of an estate model. There isn’t a better option – it depends entirely on your preferences and what you’re looking for.

Within the BMW 5 Series used range, there is a good choice of engines, with petrol, diesel, mild-hybrid, and hybrid all available, in sizes from 2.0 to 4.4 litres.

The entry-level petrol model is the 520i. This model delivers 0-62 mph in 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 146 mph, but if you want next-level performance, the M550i has a massive 530 BHP and hits 0-62 mph in a rapid 3.8 seconds.

Diesel engines include the 518d, 520d, 530d and 535d. There’s still plenty of punch in the used BMW 5 Series Estate diesel versions, with the mild-hybrid 520d the pick for fuel economy (combined MPG is 58).

The hybrid engines include the 530e and 545e, which provide all-electric ranges of 34-37 miles, though older used BMW 5 Series Touring models may be slightly lower.

There are two different trims available. The SE is the base model but is well-equipped with standard spec, including ambient interior lighting and LED headlights. Or, you can opt for the M Sport trim, which brings larger alloy wheels, aerodynamic bodystyling, and, in selected engine models, M Sport brakes.

Whichever BMW 5 Series Estate used model you choose, at Dick Lovett, we can help to make the buying process as simple and straightforward as possible with a choice of finance deals. We offer Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) or Hire Purchase (HP) plans, which can help you to structure payments over an agreed period. PCPs and HPs have different terms, so make sure you understand how each works before deciding which option is best for you.
