BMW Motorrad R 12 nineT

The new BMW R 12 nineT for sale

The BMW R nineT was introduced in 2013, and after a decade and the introduction of several derivative models, it will bid farewell in 2024. Stepping up as its successor is the new R 12 nineT.

The new BMW R 12 nineT is a classic roadster that combines the authentic and beefy boxer engine character and the design language of traditional motorcycle eras, with innovative technology and a modular concept that offers you maximum customisation options.

The R12 nineT’s seat, at only 795mm, is lower than the old model’s 805mm, and this combined with a reshaped tank with deep cutaway sections make for improved ergonomics over the previous model.

BMW Motorrad R 12 nineT

Throughout the last century, BMW motorcycles have been synonymous with the two-cylinder boxer engine featuring a propeller shaft drive and the R 12 nineT is no different. The 1,170 cc air/oil-cooled boxer engine delivers 80 kW (109 hp) at 7,000 rpm.

The centrepiece of the new BMW R 12 nineT is the completely new tubular bridge steel spaceframe. The frame differs from the previous R nineT series, which had a separate front and rear main frame. As a result, the new frame eliminates the need for previous fastenings, reducing weight and giving the new R 12 models a cleaner and more classic appearance.

The new R 12 nineT also feature a new airbox, which is now fully integrated under the seat rather than having an exposed air duct.

Carried over from the R 18 range, the new R 12 features ROLL and ROCK riding modes. The ROLL riding mode is optimised for a balanced cruiser feeling whilst the ROCK riding mode makes you want to chase bends dynamically with optimum stability.
