Used Porsche Macan Petrol Cars For Sale

The Porsche Macan is an SUV that has been hugely popular with UK buyers since its launch in 2014. It’s a compact and dynamic SUV that superbly combines sports performance and practicality – making it a great choice if you’re in the market for a car that can handle the demands of family motoring with a touch of sophistication.

Following its debut, the Macan was updated by Porsche in 2018 and 2021, adding enhancements to the exterior and tech. New engines have also been introduced, though the diesel option was discontinued after 2018.

It’s no easy achievement, putting the spirit of a sports car into the bigger body of an SUV, but Porsche has pulled it off with the Macan.

The little sibling of the Cayenne, the Macan is smaller and lighter – making handling, steering, and grip all exemplary – and still delivers on its promise of a spacious interior, off-road capability, and load capacity.

It’s a real treat to drive. All Porsche Macan models are fitted with all-wheel drive and seven-speed PDK transmission – that’s a dual clutch automatic system – which is smooth and slick.

Performance shifts between the model variants; the entry level Macan, Macan T, Macan S, Macan GTS and Macan Turbo. With the base Macan capable of 0-62mph acceleration in just 6.4 seconds, there isn’t a slow option but you can push performance faster and harder by choosing a higher spec model.

Driving in challenging conditions – rugged terrain or poor weather – is handled by the Macan by activating the ‘off road’ mode. Hill descent control is another function that can assist drivers in tricky situations.

The interior is excellent, designed to luxury levels and with enough room to seat five, including the driver. The cabin looks upmarket and the build quality is top class. Inside, the Macan is spacious and roomy, and the seats are supremely comfortable.

Adjustable electric seats come as standard, as does three-zone climate control, so every journey will be a pleasant one.

Those upgrades over the years have consistently improved the infotainment features. Newer Porsche Macan used cars will have a 12.3-inch or 10.9 inch touchscreen as part of the updated system (used Macans prior to 2018 will have a 7 inch version).

With sizable boot space, the Macan doesn’t shirk its practical responsibilities. There are 488 litres of boot capacity, and that expands out to 1,503 litres when the rear seats are folded down. Useful on those occasions when you’re transporting something bulky and need that extra space. The tailgate can be operated electronically – it’s a standard feature – which makes it easier to load and unload items.

If you’re tempted by the prospect of buying a used Porsche Macan, first of all you need to decide which type to go for.

Within the used Macan range, there are five model variants. Throughout this range, prices will vary depending on what you choose, from the base model simply titled Macan, to the now top of the range Macan GTS. There are three model variants between these; the Macan T, Macan S and Macan Turbo.

The Turbo was previously top of the Macan range until 2022, when it was replaced by the GTS. Of course, the Turbo is still available as a used model.

Porsche did originally offer a diesel version of the Macan on launch, a 3.0-litre V6 turbo engine that delivered 258hp and 0-62mph in 6.3 seconds. This was phased out with the 2018 refresh, so across the range on newer models, it’s petrol only. If you’re absolutely set on a diesel Macan, keep checking our latest online stock for availability.

The base Macan and Macan T share the same engine, a 2.0-litre that delivers 256hp, 0-62mph in 6.4 seconds (6.2 seconds on the Macan T) and a top speed of 144mph. The Macan S is a more powerful 3.0-litre – 380hp, 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 161mph.

The GTS is also a 3.0-litre, but capable of 440hp, it’s noticeably more potent. Acceleration from 0-62mph quickens to 4.5 seconds, and top speed can reach 169mph. The Macan Turbo has the largest engine of the range, at 3.6 litres. That delivers 399hp, 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds, and a top speed of 165mph.

Newer used Porsche Macans have features that either weren’t included in models before the updates, or were only included with optional packs. From 2018, more colour ranges and driver assistance systems were available, as well as the improved infotainment functionality. Macans from 2019 onwards had new bumpers and other design enhancements.

With a series of optional packs available on the Macan, used models may have these included – adding more value to the vehicle. These include the Sport Chrono package, Carbon Interior Package and Driver Memory Package.
