1963 Porsche 356B Super 90

Built in January 1963, at a time when Porsche’s reputation for engineering purity and performance was taking hold across the globe, this particular example began its life under the Californian sun. Delivered new to the USA, it found its first owner in a landscape perfectly suited to its lightweight agility and unmistakable silhouette.

As the years passed and ownership changed hands, its true chapter began with its fourth California custodian—an enthusiast who understood exactly what this car deserved to be. Over a remarkable 15-year period, this 356B was painstakingly refined to concours condition. The result? Between 1992 and 2004, it became a celebrated presence across Californian concours events, collecting numerous.

Like many cars that have lived full lives, its mechanical story evolved too. The original engine is believed to have failed during its earliest years. However, in keeping with its pedigree, a correct Super 90 engine was expertly built and installed in 1997—ensuring the car retained the spirited performance that defines the model. That same year, the interior was beautifully refurbished, restoring the cabin to a condition befitting its exterior elegance.

In 2005, the car passed into new hands, continuing its carefully preserved journey. By 2011, it crossed the Atlantic, arriving in the UK where it was registered with the DVLA. Since then, it has been cherished by just two UK owners—each one contributing to the preservation of its legacy. Accompanying the car is an extensive file of documentation from its time in the USA, offering a rare and reassuring insight into its life, restoration, and concours success.
