The all-new BMW iX3 – the first of the Neue Klasse Generation

Posted 23rd September 2025

The all-new BMW iX3 redefines the brand as we know it. Being the first model in the Neue Klasse series, the iX3 welcomes a plethora of upgrades and new features which make this fully electric sports activity vehicle, the very first of its kind.

With deliveries of the new BMW iX3 scheduled to arrive in spring 2026, we haven’t got long to wait before we can get behind the wheel of this exciting new model and experience its improved design, performance and technological capabilities first hand.

Performance

Featuring a fully electric all-wheel drive powertrain, the BMW iX3 accelerates from 0 to 62mph in just 4.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 130mph. One of the most impressive new features is the electric range - up to 500 miles WLTP*, achieved on a single charge, effectively eliminating range anxiety. After just 10 minutes of charging at a high-power charger, you can gain between 192 and 231 miles of range.

The BMW iX3 is the first model to feature BMW’s new Heart of Joy - an innovative, high-performance control unit which, combined with BMW Dynamic Performance Control, manages all driving-related processes for this next generation of BMW models, ensuring they work together seamlessly.

Exterior

Noticeably, the exterior design has undergone some major changes, showcasing many striking new highlights which can be recognised from the Neue Klasse X concept car. Starting with the kidney grille, which transforms the face of the new iX3 - it retains the iconic, recognisable glow, but now features a slimmer, more vertical shape that pays homage to the original Neue Klasse model from the 1960s. This honours BMW’s heritage and symbolises the beginning of a new era, as the name suggests.

The headlights no longer feature chrome, allowing for an all-new light signature. This includes distinctive welcome and goodbye sequences, adding a touch of sophistication and reinforcing the iX3’s position as the first of this new generation of models.

The bonnet has prominent contouring, drawing the eye down the front of the car to the new minimalist BMW roundel. Modified and debuting on the new iX3, this updated badge will appear on all future Neue Klasse models. For the first time, 58 litres of storage is available under the bonnet - ideal for storing a charging cable or extra luggage. Additionally, the boot offers 520 litres of space, which expands to 1,750 litres with all rear seats folded flat. The model also offers the option to add a towing hitch, making the iX3 a practical choice for a wide range of needs.

Flush door handles and air blades not only enhance aerodynamics, but also contribute to the car’s sleek and sophisticated appearance. Complementing its design and curves, the iX3 is available in six different exterior paint colours, including two new shades debuting with the model - Ocean Wave Blue and Polarised Grey.

The Automatic Charging Flap features AI technology, allowing the car to learn where you regularly stop to charge. It will automatically open, ready for you to plug in, helping to make routine journeys even more seamless.

Interior

Taking centre stage in the interior, and rightfully claiming the limelight, is the new BMW Panoramic Vision. It’s one of four key elements that make up BMW’s new Panoramic iDrive and the new BMW Operating System X. This head-up display stretches from one corner of the dashboard to the other, covering almost the entire width of the windscreen. It is customisable and visible to all those in the cabin, displaying widgets for navigation, weather, music and more.

The high-resolution central display features a new design, with a 17.9” screen that tilts towards the steering wheel, making it easier for the driver to access controls. The multifunction steering wheel incorporates haptic Shy Tech controls, which provide tactile feedback and remain hidden until activated, helping to conserve battery power. Finally, the optional 3D head-up display, positioned exclusively for the driver, delivers precise, real-time 3D visualisations of driving information, allowing you to keep your eyes on the road.

The modernised and minimalist interior design continues through to the choice of materials, including elegant seating that offers excellent comfort whether on long journeys or during sportier driving. Ambient lighting is integrated into the fabric surface of the dashboard, creating an atmospheric backlit effect. With the optional panoramic sunroof, even more natural light can flood the cabin, while climate comfort glazing helps maintain a comfortable interior temperature regardless of external conditions.

As the first of forty new models and model updates in BMW’s Neue Klasse generation, launching between now and 2027, we hope you're as excited about the all-new BMW iX3 as we are here at Dick Lovett. Please contact us if you would like any more information.
