When you're choosing the specifications of your BMW electric, you'll have a range of options to pick from. From individual paint options to a range of interior trims, you're given a wealth of choices when it comes to perfecting your build.
Every detail matters when designing your perfect BMW Electric. In this guide, we will go through the
process of how you can configure your perfect EV to make it truly yours.
1. Choose Your Model
The "i" lineup has always been at the forefront of pushing technological boundaries in the EV space. The range demonstrates BMW's commitment to perpetual innovation, with models like the BMW i3 (2013) and the BMW i8 (2014). Both of these debut models raised the bar for mainstream automotive manufacturers, showing what was capable in both fully electric and hybrid platforms.
BMW currently offer a wide range of fully electric models, suiting the needs of all drivers, whatever the preference. From the compact BMW iX1, serving as the most accessible electric SUV in the range, to the BMW iX, standing out as the flagship SUV, built on a dedicated EV platform, there are models to meet every need.
When choosing your BMW electric vehicle, you'll have some key factors to consider. Start by considering points such as your lifestyle, driving habits and range needs. If you're taking long trips often, you may want to opt for models that have a larger battery for extended range. If your journeys are usually shorter, this can help narrow down the ideal model for you.
An iX3 would be perfect for most families, with ample boot space (510 litres or 1,560 litres with back seats folded) and up to 285 miles of range. The iX3 is a great choice to navigate the city streets as well as those weekend adventures.
If you travel longer distances or spend a lot of time on the motorway, the BMW i5 is a perfect fit. With a range of up to 356 miles and ultra-fast charging capability of up to 205kW, it's built to handle frequent 150+ mile journeys with ease. Add to that a refined, luxurious driving experience, and the i5 delivers both practicality and comfort on every trip.

2. Personalise Your Interior
Specifying the perfect interior for your BMW electric vehicle allows you to tailor every detail to your taste and lifestyle. There are a range of options that can vary from model to model, so for the guide below, we'll look at the i4 as an example.
With the i4, you'll get a choice of a range of upholstery options to select. Sensatec and Veganza act as your synthetic "leatherette" materials, providing an animal-free option. Vernasca and Merino are the genuine leather options, offering a balance of quality and practicality. All your options come in a range of colours to either contrast or complement the exterior colour of your choice.
You'll have a choice from a variety of interior trims that complement the upholstery. The i4 features choices of classic Dark Graphite Matt, Light Fine-Wood Open-Pored finish, as well as Aluminium Rhombicle. M and M Sport models can also be enhanced with a Carbon Fibre Interior Trim to perfectly complete the sporty look.
3. Select Your Exterior Colour & Design Features
Once you have your interior planned, you can select your exterior colour of choice, with a range of pre-chosen colours to choose from.
You could also opt for a BMW Individual Paint, with a range of 100+ special finishes. This offers a level of exclusivity, making your BMW truly unique. BMW Individual offers a range of finishes from non-metallic, metallic, and matt options, allowing you to add that personal touch to your vehicle.
You might also want to consider the packs that are available to further customise the look of your BMW electric. With the i4, the M Sport Pro Pack gives you high-gloss black Shadowline trim, Red M Sport Brake Calipers, M Sport Seat Belts as well as the M Sport Spoiler.
You also have a range of wheels to choose from, completing the look. Our personal favourite is the 859M Bicolour Jet Black Y-spoke wheels. They are the perfect blend of function and form, offering a lightweight build and sporty appearance, and are the perfect cherry on top of any BMW electric build.
4. Enhance Driving Experience & Tech
Whilst the technology behind any BMW electric is industry-leading, there are a range of optional extras that can further enhance your driving experience.
The Harman Kardon Surround Sound loudspeaker system is an essential add-on for audiophiles, featuring 17 loudspeakers on the i4 that fill the interior with digitally amplified sound. Speaker trims with a "Harman Kardon" inscription give a level of refinement to the interior that is a welcome addition to any build.
The optional Technology Pack bundles Live Cockpit Pro, Parking Assistant Plus & Driving Assistant to help make your choice of options easier. Live Cockpit Pro provides you with a Head-up Display that increases safety and makes navigation easier. Its features include a Display cluster with 12.3" multifunctional instrument display, and 14.9" control display with a Full-colour Head-Up Display.
Parking Assistant Plus offers more cameras at the front, rear and in the exterior mirrors, which provide a 360° and 3D view around the vehicle.
This gives the driver a direct view of the vehicle's surroundings, allowing for easier manoeuvring in the tightest of spaces, automatic parking in parallel and bay parking spaces, as well as easier reversing thanks to the Reversing Assistant.
Driving Assistant, a camera and radar-based driver assistance system, is there to aid in driving situations and assist in detecting potential collisions, assist with safer lane changes, and support through automatic braking and steering interventions in hazardous situations.
5. Charging Options:
Whilst not specific to a particular model, it’s important to consider your charging options to ensure a seamless electric driving experience. Public charging can be a helpful backup, but if you have the space, installing a home charger is the most convenient solution.
