Electric vehicles are becoming increasingly visible in our day-to-day lives, and Porsche is at the forefront of electric performance and engineering. As the automotive industry continues to evolve, we are committed to manufacturing our vehicles to the highest standards while remaining focused on sustainability.
Our Electric Model Range
The Porsche Taycan launched in 2019, when the saloon variants were first introduced. Following this, the Taycan Cross Turismo and Sport Turismo models were added to the range in 2021.
In 2024, Porsche unveiled significant updates across the Taycan line-up, marking the debut of the second generation Taycan. Building on the demand of its first fully electric vehicle, Porsche introduced the Macan EV in 2024, its first all-electric SUV. The Macan EV is available in several variants, including the Macan, Macan 4, Macan 4S, and the high-performance Macan Turbo.
With Porsche now offering a range of fully electric models in their line-up, it’s never been easier to find a Porsche that suits your lifestyle and aids sustainability – all without compromising on performance.
Porsche Electric Vehicle Efficiency: Cost Saving Benefits You Should Know
Porsche’s electric vehicles, like the Taycan and Macan EV, deliver impressive efficiency without sacrificing performance, offering drivers a mix of luxury, sustainability, and long-term savings.
One of the most notable cost saving benefits is reduced fuel expenditure; charging an EV is substantially cheaper than refuelling a petrol car, particularly when using home chargers or taking advantage of Porsche partner charging stations.
To demonstrate the potential savings of switching to electric, we will compare the Porsche Taycan with the Porsche Panamera over a 10,000-mile period. Assuming a mix of charging options of 70% home charging at 6.75p /kWh, 20% public charging at 52p/kWh, and 10% rapid charging at 77p/kWh, the Taycan would cost roughly £634 to charge for 10,000-miles. In contrast, the Panamera, averaging 25 mpg and with petrol priced at £1.34 per litre, would cost around £2,437 This shows a potential saving of over £1,800 per year on energy costs alone, making a strong case for the financial benefits of switching to electric.
Additionally, Porsche EVs require less maintenance due to there being fewer moving parts compared to an internal combustion engine (ICE) model. There's no need for oil changes, and regenerative braking helps extend the lifespan of brake components. Many owners also benefit from government incentives, including tax relief, grants, and lower vehicle registration fees, depending on the region. These efficiency driven advantages make owning a Porsche EV not only a sustainable choice but also a financially smart one over time.
Sustainability with Porsche
Porsche is working hard to make its electric cars more environmentally friendly. The Taycan, for example, is built in a factory in Zuffenhausen, Germany, that runs on green energy and produces no carbon emissions. Porsche is also developing new battery technology through its Cellforce Group that uses less harmful materials and focuses on high performance. While electric car batteries usually don’t use rare earth elements, Porsche is still finding ways to reduce the impact of the materials it does use. Porsche is continually exploring how to reuse old batteries and recycle materials to create a more sustainable future.
Overcoming Range Anxiety: Porsche Destination Charging
One of the most common concerns drivers have when switching to electric vehicles is range anxiety - the fear of running low on charge without knowing where the next charging station is. To manage this concern, Porsche has developed a wide network of Destination Charging Partners.
These are conveniently located charging points at premium destinations such as hotels, golf courses, and city centres. Whether you're commuting to work or travelling home from a weekend getaway, Porsche ensures you're never far from a reliable charging station. This partnership offers peace of mind and enhances the practicality of driving electric, all without compromising on the luxury and performance with the Porsche name.
